WHO WE ARE

A gospel-centered community on mission…

Our Name

The hope we have as Christians is rooted in the promise that at the return of Jesus, God will establish a new city on a new earth (Revelation 21:1-4). Unlike the cities of the present age, this new city will be designed and built not by the hands of man, but by God (Hebrews 11:10). In this new city, God’s people will flourish in his presence forever.

Until then, we seek the welfare of the earthly city in which we live (Jeremiah 29:7). We live as faithful citizens in our earthly city as we bring the realities of the future new city to bear here and now. New City Church seeks to love God, each other, and our city, as we await a day when God will make all things new (Revelation 21:5).

Our Values and Identity

Three core values shape our identity as a church family. The GOSPEL is the good news that God’s Kingdom is a present reality here on earth, through Jesus. Through faith and trust in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, anyone can be brought into this present Kingdom and into a relationship with God. By the power of the Holy Spirit, the gospel leads us into COMMUNITY with other Christians. It is in community that we grow to become more like Jesus, serve one another, gather for worship, and scatter for mission.

The MISSION of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus, who make disciples of Jesus – to the glory of God. As disciples are made, churches are planted and lives transformed. We do not participate in this mission as isolated individuals, but as a Holy Spirit empowered community that is centered on the gospel.

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

— Matthew 28:18-20

Our City

We love our city. Boise is home to 235,000 people and is currently one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. It is a city with great beauty, food, drink, and culture. Its proximity to mountains, trails, rivers, and forests has made it a hub for outdoor activity. While our city is full of natural beauty, there is much gospel work that needs to take place here.

When you compare Boise to other cities, it is one of the least-religious metro areas in the country. Only 7-8% of those who live in Boise will attend a gospel-preaching church on Sunday and 57% of Ada county has no religious affiliation. We desire to see the people of our city come to know Jesus. We partner with other churches in our area to reach Boise with the good news of the gospel.

Our Mission

It is our mission to make disciples who make disciples and plant churches across the Treasure Valley. We also actively fund church planting through our partnerships with Acts 29 and the City Network.

We do this as we gather for worship on Sunday and then scatter to carry the good news of Jesus into our homes, schools, work, and local gathering places.
